We often take news and resources from the Amazon region and other areas, simply because so many of the issues are shared between tropical forest areas. Here we present a series of 5 films about how people in the Amazon use fire as part of their agricultural process.

This technique is called swidden agriculture, but is also known by its more common and less flattering term ‘slash and burn’. We prefer swidden because it is less loaded, and means any debate or conservation is starting from an immediately biased or defensive stance.
